The Futurists
Mitch Breitweiser and Patrick Stiles have a new webcomic, called The Futurists. From their website: "Set in colonial India in the late 1800’s, The Futurists is an epic tome about the quest for eternal life gone horribly wrong, the search for absolution , and the path to self destruction.".
I was fortunate enough to meet Mitch at Wizard World Texas 2008, and to get a really awesome Captain America sketch from him. He is one of Marvel comics big new names and has this year done some great Captain America work and an Uncanny X-Men annual. See my profile of Mitch, here. He has a great gritty style.
I'm looking forward to reading this story. Click here to check it out, yourself.
Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station
One of my co-workers is taking part in a neat experiment. It is called FMARS (Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station) and is a project of the Mars Society. Stacy Cusack is a Station Training Lead (STL) at NASA - meaning she is in charge of training for a particular flight. For the next month she will be living in the Canadian Arctic on Devon Island, with the goal to focus on understanding the technical and human factors which may be faced by the first human Mars explorers.
Learn more about the project at the official site, here and in this Galveston County Daily News article. You can also follow her progress on Twitter @martian1113.

Review: True Blood season 1 A-
True Blood comes from Six Feet Under creator, Alan Ball, and is based on novels by Charlaine Harris. It is Southern Gothic via HBO. True Blood examines the idea of what if vampires existed, in our culture, and everyone knew it? It is vampires as a metaphor for every ostracized group.
Review: Lupe Tortilla A

What to do when Vista gives a blue screen saying: STOP: 0X0000C1F5
This morning I was presented with a Vista laptop that had gone belly up. The computer would fail on boot, briefly showing a blue screen and then power cycling. Trying to start in Safe Mode didn't work. Neither did any of the options in that menu. The error message on the blue screen was STOP: 0X0000C1F5. A quick Google search resulted in a few different opinions - everything from "the harddrive is toast" to "corrupt kernal - wipe the computer". Pretty much all of them said that the data was irretrievable.
